The Ministry of Defence has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), intends to resign from office.
In a public disclaimer issued by the Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence, the ministry described the reports as “malicious” and “entirely fabricated,” stressing that the claims were designed to mislead the public.
The statement reaffirmed that General Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities and is focused on implementing the country’s defence strategy.
“The attention of the Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence has been drawn to a malicious, entirely fabricated rumour circulating across various online and social media platforms alleging that the Honourable Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has expressed an intention to step down from his position,” the statement read.
It added that the minister remains “fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen.”
The ministry urged the public to disregard the rumour and cautioned media organisations and social media users against spreading unverified information. It advised anyone seeking clarification on matters concerning the minister to contact the Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence.
