The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its role in global peacekeeping and international security efforts.

General Musa made the commitment on Tuesday during his attendance at the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The Minister attended the opening session alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, who led the Nigerian delegation to the global conference.

Following the opening of the General Assembly, General Musa paid an operational visit to the Defence Section at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations.
During the visit, he received a briefing on the strategic activities and operational commitments of the Defence Section from the Defence Attaché, Brigadier General EA Koleosho.

The Minister commended Brigadier General Koleosho and his team for what he described as their professionalism, loyalty and commitment to upholding the ideals of the United Nations and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

General Musa also reiterated the resolve of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore and expand Nigeria’s active participation in international peace and security efforts.

He said the administration remained committed to reinvigorating Nigeria’s participation in peacekeeping operations across the globe as part of efforts to promote stability and security.
