Member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Daniel Amos, has bid farewell to his maternal aunt, Late Mama Shetu Awasa, describing her passing as a deeply painful moment for the family and all those who knew her.
Mama Awasa was laid to rest on Saturday at Alheri Baptist Church, Ninte, Gada Biyu, in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where family members, relatives, friends, political associates and members of the community gathered to pay their final respects.

Speaking during the funeral service, Amos, who described the deceased as his late mother’s eldest sister, said the occasion was marked by grief, reflection and gratitude for the life she lived and the memories she left behind.
He said testimonies from family members, friends and other speakers provided touching accounts of Mama Awasa’s character, relationships and contributions to the lives of those around her.
According to him, the tributes demonstrated that the true measure of a life is often found in the memories, love and affection left in the hearts of those who knew the deceased.
Amos, on behalf of his immediate and extended family, expressed appreciation to the church, relatives, political associates, friends and well-wishers who supported the family throughout the period of bereavement.
He acknowledged their prayers, presence, telephone calls and other acts of support, saying their solidarity provided comfort to the family during the difficult period.
The lawmaker also used the occasion to call for greater reflection on the meaning of life, noting that death serves as a reminder of human mortality and the importance of family, love, forgiveness and unity.
He said the family committed Mama Awasa’s remains to the earth with heavy hearts but remained comforted by their Christian faith and the hope of eternal life.
“May her memory remain a blessing, and may God grant our entire family the strength, comfort and grace to remain united in the days ahead,” Amos said.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, saying, “Rest in peace, Mama.”
