Mai Solar Advocates Religious Tolerance, Peaceful Coexistence at ECWA Zonzon Event
ZONZON, Kaduna State — An aspirant for the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Chief Hon. Dr. Gideon Jock, popularly known as “Mai Solar,” has called for religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among Nigerians of different faiths.

Jock made the call on Saturday, September 26, 2026, when he attended the Sing-Song Service organised by the ECWA Zonzon DCC Women Fellowship at ECWA Church, Zonzon.

The event brought together members of the Women Fellowship, church leaders, political stakeholders, party members, supporters, friends and well-wishers from Zonzon, Zango Urban and Zaman Dabo Ward.

Jock attended the programme with his wife, the LGA party chairman, political associates, stakeholders, party members and other supporters.

His attendance followed an invitation from a Muslim gentleman whose wife is a member of the Women Fellowship. Jock described the gesture as an example of the understanding and mutual respect that should characterise relationships between people of different faiths.

He said religious differences should not be allowed to become sources of hatred, discrimination or division, but should instead encourage greater understanding, compassion and respect.

Reflecting on his personal background, Jock said his Christian identity was shaped by his upbringing and the influence of his father, who raised him as a Christian.

He disclosed that his father served as a pastor in the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), adding that his formative years within the church significantly influenced his values, discipline, respect for humanity and commitment to service.

Jock also recalled serving as Secretary of Kwai DCC between 1991 and 1996, describing the experience as an important part of his development and service to the church.

He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunities and resources entrusted to him over the years, saying he had sought to use part of them to support individuals, groups and initiatives aimed at improving lives and creating opportunities.

Commending the ECWA Zonzon DCC Women Fellowship for organising the Sing-Song Service, Jock described such gatherings as important to the spiritual life of the church and the wider community.

He encouraged members of the Women Fellowship and the choir to remain committed to their ministry, noting that music and worship could provide encouragement, comfort, hope and spiritual renewal to people facing emotional and spiritual challenges.

He also stressed the importance of regular rehearsals and adequate preparation, saying dedication, discipline and consistency were necessary for excellence in ministry.
On the presence of political actors at religious gatherings during an election season, Jock said he had often preferred to support people and programmes without seeking publicity or public recognition.

He, however, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to worship with the congregation and participate in the fellowship.

Speaking ahead of the 2027 general elections, Jock urged members of the congregation to take their civic responsibilities seriously and participate actively in the electoral process.
He advised voters to carefully consider the character, records, conduct, capacity and accomplishments of candidates when making their choices, rather than treating elections as routine political exercises.

He also urged citizens to fulfil their civic responsibilities conscientiously while entrusting the ultimate outcome to God.
At the end of the programme, Jock made a cash donation to support the Women Fellowship and extended his goodwill to the fellowship and the entire ECWA Zonzon DCC.
He prayed for continued growth, unity, strength and spiritual vitality for the church and its members.

Responding on behalf of the DCC Executive, the DCC Secretary thanked Jock for his presence, sacrifice and contribution to the programme.

The Secretary also acknowledged his support for individuals and groups and prayed for God’s continued blessings, guidance, protection and success upon him.

The programme ended with prayers by the EMS Coordinator on behalf of Jock, seeking divine protection during his journeys, favour before the people he encounters, wisdom in his endeavours and guidance concerning his political aspirations.

The Sing-Song Service therefore combined worship and spiritual fellowship with a demonstration of interfaith understanding, peaceful coexistence and community solidarity.
