The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) on Wednesday held an early-year staff retreat to prepare its workforce for the implementation of the Nigerian Tax Act (NTA).

Speaking at the retreat, the Executive Chairman of KADIRS said the early convening of the programme underscored the urgency and responsibility placed on the Service as Nigeria enters a new phase of tax administration.

He commended Governor Uba Sani for his sustained support for revenue reforms, particularly the establishment of a Statewide Committee on Tax Reform Implementation, describing it as a critical step toward the successful rollout of the new tax regime in Kaduna State.

The chairman also praised KADIRS staff for their dedication and recent achievements, noting that the Service has continued to record professional and institutional growth.

He said recent stakeholder engagements and the Kaduna State Tax Dialogue were part of efforts to align stakeholders and strengthen preparedness for the Nigerian Tax Act, stressing that the law presents both challenges and opportunities for revenue administration.

The chairman urged staff to deepen their understanding of the Act, warning that excellence, professionalism and ethical conduct would be crucial to effective implementation.

He concluded by calling on staff to demonstrate commitment and urgency, noting that successful implementation of the Act would significantly enhance Kaduna State’s capacity to fund development and deliver public services.
