Dr. Jonathan Dyagas, PhD, has been conferred with the traditional title Njet Gwong (“Bright Star of Gwong”) by His Highness, Lt. Col. Paul Zakka Wyom (rtd.), the Kpop Gwong, yesterday.
The colourful turbaning ceremony attracted personalities from different walks of life, including traditional rulers, community leaders and well-wishers, and was held amid cultural displays celebrating the rich heritage and unity of the Gwong people.
The title Njet Gwong is regarded as a prestigious honour symbolising guidance, sacrifice and steadfast commitment to the progress of the Gwong community. It is reserved for individuals whose lives exemplify service and integrity.
Speaking after the conferment, Dr. Dyagas expressed gratitude to the Kpop Gwong and the people of Gwong for the honour, describing it as a call to greater responsibility and service.
