Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents Kaduna South Senatorial District, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election to the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Katung also pledged his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, endorsing both leaders for a second term in office.
The declaration was made during a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen from his senatorial district, held in Abuja.

According to the lawmaker, his decision to run again is driven by the need to consolidate on achievements recorded during his current tenure, complete ongoing projects, and sustain what he described as quality representation for the people of Southern Kaduna.
He emphasized that the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Tinubu administration, alongside Governor Sani’s development plans in Kaduna State, require experienced legislators to ensure effective implementation at the grassroots level.
Katung called on party stakeholders to intensify mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 polls, stressing the importance of maintaining APC’s political strength in Southern Kaduna to safeguard ongoing development.
He further assured party leaders of his commitment to unity, inclusive governance, and continued development across the eight local government areas within the district.
