Distinguished Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has convened a stakeholders’ engagement in Kachia Local Government Area to address rising security concerns in Awon, Bishini, Doka, and Kateri wards.

The meeting, held on Saturday, brought together community leaders, traditional rulers, and religious figures to deliberate on persistent attacks, displacement of residents, and the need for coordinated government intervention.

Speaking on behalf of the senator, Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. Sunday Job Yabo, said the engagement was necessitated by the worsening security situation in parts of the LGA. He stressed that the gathering was non-partisan and aimed solely at finding practical solutions to the challenges confronting affected communities.

Yabo noted that insecurity has significantly hindered development in the area, emphasizing the urgency of collective action to restore peace and stability.

Senator Katung, in his message, described security as a shared responsibility and pledged to collaborate with traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, as well as the Kaduna State Government to curb the spate of attacks and facilitate the safe return of displaced persons.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in Kaduna State, assuring stakeholders that their concerns would be escalated to appropriate federal and state authorities for prompt intervention.
The event featured a minute of silence in honour of victims of recent attacks, followed by interfaith prayers for peace, unity, and lasting security in Kachia LGA and the state at large.
