Rt. Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for appointing him as Federal Commissioner of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).
In a statement issued on Friday, Barde described the appointment as a rare privilege and a profound honour, saying he accepted it with humility, gratitude, and a strong sense of responsibility.
According to him, the appointment is not only a recognition of his years of public service but also a renewed call to contribute to nation-building through an institution that plays a critical role in promoting fairness, equity, and economic stability.
Barde acknowledged the strategic importance of the Commission in formulating equitable and sustainable remuneration policies that promote industrial harmony, enhance productivity, and support national development.
He pledged to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by working to advance policies that improve the welfare of Nigerian workers while protecting the country’s economic interests.
The Federal Commissioner assured President Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Nigerians that he would bring his experience in governance, administration, and public service to bear in the discharge of his duties.
“I will discharge my responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, transparency, and unwavering dedication to the mandate entrusted to me,” he stated.
Barde also expressed his readiness to work closely with fellow Commissioners, the Commission’s management and staff, organised labour, employers, and other stakeholders to strengthen institutional effectiveness and deliver outcomes that promote social justice, national progress, and sustainable economic growth.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and his commitment to serving with honour, diligence, and excellence.
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission is responsible for advising the Federal Government on wage and salary policies and promoting equitable remuneration systems across the public sector.
