The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has pledged total dedication to his new assignment as Secretary I of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

General Musa expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the APC for the confidence reposed in him, describing his appointment as a call to higher service.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Minister assured the party leadership, stakeholders and supporters across the country of his commitment to executing the responsibilities of the campaign council with diligence, administrative rigour and focus towards securing victory for the APC.

However, the Defence Minister stressed that his political assignment would not distract him from his constitutional responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting the lives and property of citizens.
“National security remains our highest imperative,” General Musa stated.

He assured Nigerians that ongoing military operations, strategic reforms and inter-agency collaborations within the defence sector would continue unabated and with increased vigour.

“Our resolve to uphold the mandate of the Ministry of Defence, protect our people, and drive Mr. President’s vision for a safe and prosperous Nigeria remains firm and unshakeable,” he said.

General Musa also called on APC members and patriotic Nigerians to remain united behind the Tinubu administration, expressing confidence that the party would succeed at the 2027 polls while continuing to deliver on governance and national security.
The Minister’s appointment as Secretary I of the APC Presidential Campaign Council adds a major political responsibility to his ongoing role as the nation’s Defence Minister.
