Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung, has expressed gratitude to delegates and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after emerging as the party’s candidate for the 2027 senatorial election in Kaduna South.
In a statement issued following his emergence, Katung described the victory as a collective mandate for the people of Southern Kaduna and pledged to continue working for peace, inclusion, and development across the district.
The senator thanked Almighty God, party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, saying the victory belonged to all members of the APC and the people of Southern Kaduna.
“This victory does not belong to me alone. It belongs to every member who voted with conviction, every party faithful who worked tirelessly, and every son and daughter of Southern Kaduna who believes in peace, unity, inclusion, and progress,” he said.
Katung also commended fellow aspirants for what he described as an issue-based and democratic contest, urging all party members to unite ahead of the general election.
“Now that the primaries are behind us, the time has come for us to close ranks, unite in purpose, and move forward together in the greater interest of our people,” he stated.
The lawmaker expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their leadership and commitment to inclusive governance, noting that Southern Kaduna had continued to benefit from their administration.
According to him, the forthcoming election goes beyond personal ambition and represents a defining moment for the future of Southern Kaduna.
“It is about whether we choose the path of unity, inclusion, and progress over the politics of division and bitterness,” Katung said.
He pledged to continue representing all constituents irrespective of political affiliation, ethnicity, or religion, while promising to focus on youth and women empowerment, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, and infrastructural development.
Katung further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths, and other stakeholders to support efforts aimed at promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development in the senatorial district.
He concluded with a call for collective action toward building “a stronger Kaduna South and a better Nigeria for generations to come.”
