In response to the growing challenge of inadequate access to clean water in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Engineer Ciroma Joseph, FNSE, has commenced a large-scale rehabilitation of non-functional boreholes across the LGA.
Despite ongoing efforts by the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Governor Senator Dr. Uba Sani, CON, to improve water infrastructure in rural communities, manynotaf Kauru LGA continue to experience acute shortages of potable water.
To complement these efforts, Engr. Ciroma has launched a comprehensive borehole rehabilitation programme covering communities in Kumana and Chawai Chiefdoms as well as the Kauru Emirate. The initiative is aimed at restoring access to clean and safe drinking water for residents.
Boreholes already rehabilitated under the project include:
GSS Galadimawa, Kwassam Ward
Rigiru, Kwassam Ward

Tudun Wada, Kauru West Ward
Kizaza, Baduru Ward
Makau, Dawakin Ward
The project, which is currently ongoing, is expected to reach more communities across the local government area in the coming weeks.
Residents have commended Engr. Ciroma’s intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. His commitment to improving access to potable water, despite not holding any political office, has been widely praised as a demonstration of genuine concern for grassroots development.
Observers say the initiative will significantly ease the burden on women and children who often travel long distances in search of water, while also improving public health and sanitation in the affected communities.
Engr. Ciroma, popularly known as “Mai Transformer” and “Mai Ruwa,” has been applauded for his selfless service, with community members offering prayers for the success and sustainability of the project.
