The Southern Kaduna Youths for Good Governance have challenged Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji to publicly provide documentary evidence supporting his claims regarding the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The group made the call in a public statement signed by Mr. Ephraim Dogonyaro, while congratulating Senator Sunday Marshall Katung on the presidential assent to the bill establishing the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK).
The group urged Magaji to clarify the basis of his claims concerning the FMC, Kafanchan, particularly his alleged legislative contribution to the establishment of the federal health institution.
According to the statement, Magaji should make available a presidentially assented bill, if any, to substantiate his claims.
“Since Amos Gwamna claims his bill gave rise to the FMC, he should show us the signed bill by the President, as we have seen that of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia,” the statement said.
The group argued that the FMC, Kafanchan, was established through an executive decision of the Federal Government rather than legislation, contrary to what it described as claims by the lawmaker.
It further alleged that attempts to claim credit for the project contributed to delays in its actualisation, while calling for public discourse on the matter to be guided by verifiable records rather than political assertions.
However, the group clarified that its demand was not intended to prejudge the facts or deny any individual recognition for legitimate contributions to the development of Southern Kaduna.
“Any claim of legislative sponsorship or institutional facilitation should be supported by documents that can be independently verified through the National Assembly, the Federal Government, or other competent authorities,” the statement added.
The organisation maintained that the establishment of FMC Kafanchan followed an executive decision of the Federal Government after lobbying efforts attributed to key stakeholders from Southern Kaduna.
It also referenced remarks reportedly made by the Vice President during his visit to Ikulu land, while noting that Senator Katung had continued to pursue legislative backing for the institution.
The group further cited the recent passage by the Senate of a bill sponsored by Katung seeking to establish a teaching hospital in Manchok, affiliated with the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.
According to the statement, the development underscores the importance of properly documenting the respective contributions of public officials to the establishment and development of institutions in Southern Kaduna.
The youths also recalled an earlier demand for Magaji to provide verifiable evidence of his alleged role in the construction of the Kigudu–Kifori bridge in Atyap land, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
They argued that the same standard of accountability should apply to claims concerning public infrastructure and legislative initiatives.
“Leadership demands honesty, transparency, and accountability. Public office holders should receive recognition for contributions they can substantiate, while the public deserves accurate information about how important institutions and projects are initiated, funded, and delivered,” the statement said.
The group called on leaders in Southern Kaduna to prioritise integrity, service delivery and verifiable achievements over political self-promotion.
It stressed that its demand was a call for clarification and accountability rather than a final determination of the disputed claims.
The statement concluded with a call for greater transparency in public service, declaring that Southern Kaduna deserved leaders who valued facts, integrity and service to the people.
